We specialize in repairing popular E.H. Flint collections. Learn more about the history of these collections:

The E.H. Flint 4-Jewel pocket watch was created during the late 1870s, when American watchmakers were working to produce reliable, domestically made alternatives to imported watches. Rather than being inspired by a particular event or design, it reflected E.H. Flint’s effort to establish watch manufacturing in Cincinnati, using a traditional full-plate movement typical of American pocket watches of the period.

We know that your E.H. Flint watch is important to you and understand that the sentimental value more often than not outweighs the monetary value. Our expert watchmakers strive to make sure your watch can be worn for many years to come.

The E.H. Flint 5-Jewel pocket watch reflected the company’s effort to produce practical American-made watches in Cincinnati during the late 1870s. Rather than being inspired by a specific event or theme, the watch followed traditional American full-plate pocket-watch construction, with the additional jeweled bearings intended to reduce friction and improve durability as Flint experimented with different movement configurations.

The E.H. Flint 6-Jewel pocket watch reflected the company’s effort to produce dependable American-made watches in Cincinnati during the late 1870s. Rather than being inspired by a particular event or theme, it followed the traditional full-plate construction of the era, with its jewel configuration representing one of the variations Flint produced during its brief and highly limited period of watchmaking.

The E.H. Flint 7-Jewel pocket watch reflected the company’s ambition to produce quality American-made watches in Cincinnati during the late 1870s. Rather than drawing inspiration from a specific event or theme, it followed traditional American full-plate watchmaking practices, with the higher jewel count representing one of the more refined variations produced during E.H. Flint’s brief period of production.

The E.H. Flint Model 1 was inspired by the emerging American watch industry of the late 19th century, when small makers were attempting to compete with established domestic and imported watches. Produced in Cincinnati, it followed the large, full-plate pocket-watch construction common to the era and represented E.H. Flint’s ambitious but short-lived effort to establish a watchmaking operation in Ohio.

HISTORY OF E.H. FLINT

The Legacy of E.H. Flint: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

E.H. Flint was a small American watchmaking operation established in Cincinnati, Ohio, during the late 1870s. Unlike major manufacturers such as Waltham and Elgin, Flint produced watches on an extremely limited scale, creating large, traditional full-plate pocket-watch movements in several jewel configurations.

Only about 100 movements are believed to have been produced before the operation disappeared around 1879. Today, E.H. Flint pocket watches are exceptionally rare survivors of early American watchmaking, prized by collectors for their scarcity, craftsmanship, and connection to Cincinnati’s little-known watchmaking history.
