Jacob D. Custer was a 19th-century American clockmaker from Norristown, Pennsylvania. Beginning with household and shelf clocks, he later became known for building large tower clocks for towns and public buildings throughout the region.
Custer also experimented with watchmaking, producing only a small number of watches during the 1840s. Today, his clocks are rare examples of early Pennsylvania clockmaking and a reminder of an era when local clockmakers kept entire communities on time.
