Wempe Glashütte watches trace their origins to Wempe, a German retailer founded in Hamburg in 1878 by Gerhard D. Wempe, which grew from a small watch and jewelry shop into one of Europe’s respected luxury watch retailers. After more than a century of selling and servicing fine timepieces, the company began producing its own watches in 2006 with a manufacturing facility in Glashütte, Germany’s historic watchmaking center.

Drawing on the region’s tradition of precision engineering and Wempe’s experience with marine chronometers and observatory testing, the brand introduced collections such as Zeitmeister, Chronometerwerke, and Iron Walker, each built as an officially certified chronometer. Today, Wempe Glashütte watches are known for combining classic German design, reliable mechanical movements, and a heritage tied to timekeeping for nearly 150 years.
