One specific brand
I’ve owned different watches over the years. Out of all of them, one specific brand has always ended up needing repairs of one kind or another. I bought my first one after watching Interstellar. It’s a beautiful watch and I still love wearing it, but within the first month, its dial had stopped. It wasn’t a cell issue, it was an issue with the dial itself. I sent it back, and the company repaired it within a week. However, I had a similar issue when I bought [my next watch]. No matter how hard I tried, the date dial would not adjust properly. Just like before, I sent it back, and the company was able to fix it. However, since I paid a premium for both watches, I must say I expected better.
The last one I owned
Of the brands I have owned, I have found [one that] requires [a lot of] maintenance. The last one I owned I had to send for “cleaning” and a battery replacement after just over a year, which cost almost as much as the watch. Soon after, I dropped it on the bathroom floor, and it stopped working altogether. The glass didn’t shatter or anything, but it just stopped running. I’ve gone back to Japanese brands and couldn’t be happier with the Citizen EcoDrive I bought to replace it – accurate, tough, simple and never needs a battery change.
Some other brands
The build quality was very poor [on one of my previous watches], and some say that you can buy the same watch online from other Chinese manufacturers for ten dollars. It was greatly overpriced and did not last a long time at all. Some other brands that are about the same price but are of better quality are Timex, Casio, and Skagen.
