Expert Care for Every Watch Style & Collection

We specialize in repairing popular Adams & Perry collections. Learn more about the history of these collections:

The Lancaster Watch created by Adams & Perry in the mid-1870s was inspired by a vision to prove that American craftsmanship could rival the finest Swiss timepieces, using innovative engineering and elegant design to showcase domestic skill. Founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, by watch designer Edwin A. Perry and entrepreneur Joseph D. Adams, the company sought to build high-grade, fully American movements with precision and beauty that matched European imports. Their flagship 20-jewel model embodied this ambition with advanced full-plate construction and refined finishing, reflecting a broader post–Civil War drive to establish world-class American industry and make Lancaster a center of horological excellence.

We know that your Adams & Perry watch is important to you and understand that the sentimental value more often than not outweighs the monetary value. Our expert watchmakers strive to make sure your watch can be worn for many years to come.

The Adams & Perry pocket watch was inspired by a desire to create a distinctly American high-grade timepiece that could compete with the best Swiss imports of the 1870s, showcasing technical innovation and elegant design. Built in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, these 18-size movements—often with 19 or 20 jewels and featuring Edwin A. Perry’s patented plate layout and fine finishing—embodied post–Civil War industrial ambition and precision craftsmanship. The watches highlighted stem-wind and stem-set mechanisms, advanced jeweling, and a commitment to all-American manufacturing, reflecting both the founders’ engineering vision and the broader push to establish the United States as a world-class horological center.

We know that your Adams & Perry watch is important to you and understand that the sentimental value more often than not outweighs the monetary value. Our expert watchmakers strive to make sure your watch can be worn for many years to come.

HISTORY OF ADAMS & PERRY

The Legacy of Adams & Perry: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

The Adams & Perry Watch Company was a short-lived but historically notable American watchmaker founded in 1874 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, by Edwin A. Perry, a skilled watch designer, and Joseph D. Adams, a businessman seeking to build a premier domestic timepiece enterprise. Their goal was to create high-grade, fully American-made movements to rival Swiss imports, and they developed an advanced 19-jewel movement noted for its precision and fine finishing. Financial troubles and management conflicts, however, plagued the startup, and by late 1876 the company was reorganized as the Lancaster Watch Company, which eventually evolved through various owners into the Hamilton Watch Company.

Though brief, Adams & Perry’s emphasis on innovation and quality helped lay the groundwork for Lancaster’s later success and contributed to the growth of American watchmaking in the late 19th century.
