Expert Care for Every Watch Style & Collection

We specialize in repairing popular Boston collections. Learn more about the history of these collections:

The Boston Dennison, Howard & Davis Model 1852 was inspired by the Boston Watch Company’s ambition to industrialize watchmaking by combining precision craftsmanship with American mass-production methods. Aaron L. Dennison envisioned a timepiece built with fully interchangeable parts—an idea drawn from the success of mechanized firearm manufacturing in Springfield and other U.S. armories. Seeking to rival and eventually surpass the hand-crafted precision of Swiss and English watches, the company aimed to prove that machinery and standardization could produce affordable yet highly accurate timepieces, laying the groundwork for the modern American watch industry.

We know that your Boston watch is important to you and understand that the sentimental value more often than not outweighs the monetary value. Our expert watchmakers strive to make sure your watch can be worn for many years to come.

The Boston Samuel Curtis Model 1854 was inspired by the company’s pursuit of excellence and prestige within the emerging American watch industry. Created as a higher-grade timepiece and named after investor Samuel Curtis, it embodied the Boston Watch Company’s desire to showcase not only mechanical precision but also artistic refinement. With finer finishing, decorative engraving, and improved movement quality, this model was intended to rival the best English and Swiss watches of the era, symbolizing the company’s ambition to elevate American watchmaking from industrial experimentation to true horological artistry.

We know that your Boston watch is important to you and understand that the sentimental value more often than not outweighs the monetary value. Our expert watchmakers strive to make sure your watch can be worn for many years to come.

The Boston Warren Model 1853 was inspired by the company’s drive to perfect its system of interchangeable watch parts and to demonstrate the practical success of industrialized watchmaking. Named after the town of Waltham’s original name, “Warren,” this model represented a refinement of Dennison’s manufacturing vision—combining machine-made precision with elegant design. It was created to prove that American engineering could consistently produce reliable, uniform, and affordable pocket watches on a scale previously unseen, setting the stage for the full industrialization of American horology.

We know that your Boston watch is important to you and understand that the sentimental value more often than not outweighs the monetary value. Our expert watchmakers strive to make sure your watch can be worn for many years to come.

HISTORY OF BOSTON

The Legacy of Boston: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

The Boston Watch Company, founded in Roxbury, Massachusetts, in 1850 by Aaron L. Dennison, Edward Howard, and David P. Davis, was a pioneering force in American watchmaking and the first to introduce industrialized watch production methods in the United States. Their vision was to create high-quality, interchangeable watch parts through mechanized manufacturing—a concept inspired by the precision of American firearm production. Despite their groundbreaking approach, financial difficulties forced the company into bankruptcy by 1857, leading to its reorganization as the Appleton Tracy & Co., which later evolved into the renowned Waltham Watch Company.

Though short-lived, the Boston Watch Company’s innovations laid the foundation for America’s dominance in 19th-century watchmaking and set the stage for mass-produced precision timepieces worldwide.
