Delbana watches trace their origins to 1931 when Italian watchmaker Goliardo Della Balda founded the company in Grenchen, Switzerland, aiming to produce reliable Swiss watches that combined traditional craftsmanship with accessible pricing. During the mid-20th century, Delbana built a reputation for well-made mechanical wristwatches and pocket watches that were exported across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Like many Swiss brands, Delbana faced major challenges during the quartz crisis of the 1970s and 1980s as inexpensive electronic watches disrupted the industry, forcing the company to adapt.
