The Legacy of Eza: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

Eza began in 1921 in Pforzheim, Germany, when Hermann Becker founded the company as a maker of high-quality watch cases and complete mechanical timepieces during a period when Pforzheim was becoming a major center of German watch production. Over the following decades, the brand earned a reputation for durable, water-resistant watches, especially those using the company’s robust “Eza Seal” cases that were known for reliability. Like many traditional watchmakers, Eza struggled through the quartz crisis of the 1960s and 1970s and eventually disappeared from the market.

In the 2010s, Dutch watch enthusiast Diederik van Golen revived the name, aiming to carry forward Eza’s vintage-inspired German aesthetic while updating the watches with modern materials and Swiss mechanical movements.
