Meet the NHL’s Official Watch

The puck is dropping, arenas are filling up, and hockey is back. But as a new NHL season gets underway, something different is ticking alongside the action. For the first time in league history, the NHL has an Official Luxury Sports Watch.

Meet the NHL’s Official WatchThat honor belongs to NORQAIN, an independent Swiss watchmaker that became the NHL’s official luxury sports watch partner in 2025. It was a major move for a company founded only a few years earlier, but the connection makes a lot more sense once you realize just how deeply hockey runs through NORQAIN.

This isn’t a watch company that suddenly discovered hockey because it landed a sponsorship deal. Former NHL defenseman Mark Streit helped found NORQAIN and has been part of the company since its beginning. Streit made history as the first Swiss-born player to captain an NHL team and later won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh.

Then there is Sidney Crosby. He isn’t simply another athlete attached to the brand. The longtime Pittsburgh Penguins captain is a NORQAIN shareholder and one of the greatest hockey players of all time. His career includes three Stanley Cups, two Olympic gold medals and one of the most famous goals in hockey history, the overtime “Golden Goal” that won Olympic gold in 2010.

Crosby also shares a special connection with Streit. The two were teammates in Pittsburgh and won the Stanley Cup together in 2017. Nashville Predators captain and Swiss hockey star Roman Josi is also a NORQAIN shareholder, making the relationship between the watch company and hockey far deeper than a business deal.

So when NORQAIN and the NHL created a watch together, it was never going to be a logo slapped on a catalog piece. The Adventure Chrono 41mm NHL Limited Edition is capped at 1,917 pieces, a nod to the year the league was founded. Look closely and the game is everywhere.

Meet the NHL’s Official WatchThe white dial is designed to look like the surface of a hockey rink after skates have carved across the ice. At 9 o’clock, the small-seconds counter resembles a face-off circle, with two crossed hockey sticks rotating to count the seconds. The NHL shield is front and center, while a “TIMEOUT” detail on the inner scale adds another subtle reference to the game.

Even the strap gets in on it. The black rubber strap incorporates material from a hockey puck, and the special presentation box opens to reveal a miniature rink-style layout with an authentic NHL puck alongside the watch.

Inside is the NORQAIN Calibre N17, a Swiss automatic chronograph based on the Sellita SW500a, with a personalized NORQAIN rotor and a 62-hour power reserve. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and powers the chronograph along with the day and date displays. Flip the watch over and the movement can be seen through the sapphire exhibition caseback, surrounded by the NHL logo and limited-edition markings.

And really, watches and hockey were probably destined to meet. Few sports make the clock feel more important. Players watch seconds disappear during a power play. Coaches pull their goalie with time running out. Fans stare at the scoreboard in the final moments of a close game, knowing one second can separate victory from defeat.

NORQAIN may be one of the younger names in Swiss watchmaking, but becoming the first Official Luxury Sports Watch of the NHL puts it on a much bigger stage. With one of hockey’s all-time greats, Sidney Crosby, alongside Mark Streit and Roman Josi already connected to the brand, the partnership feels less like advertising and more like the next chapter of a story that was already being written.

Every season is a race toward Lord Stanley’s Cup. Now the NHL has an official watch along for the ride.
