The Legacy of Minerva: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

Minerva watches trace their origins to 1858 in Villeret, Switzerland, when Charles-Yvan Robert founded the company, quickly gaining a reputation for precise, hand-crafted movements with a strong focus on chronographs and timing instruments; by the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Minerva became widely respected for its stopwatches and chronographs used in sports, aviation, and scientific applications.

Remaining independent for much of its history, Minerva continued producing in-house calibers before facing challenges during the quartz crisis and later becoming part of the Richemont group, where its historic Villeret workshop was preserved under Montblanc; today, it is celebrated for its finely finished movements, renowned chronograph calibers, and lasting legacy in traditional Swiss watchmaking.
