Schwarz Etienne, founded in 1902 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, began as a movement manufacturer established by Paul Arthur Schwarz and Olga Etienne, whose names formed the brand. Early on, the company built its reputation by producing precise, reliable mechanical movements for other watchmakers during a time of rapid growth in Swiss horology.

Through wars, economic shifts, and the quartz era, the company gradually transitioned into producing complete in-house watches that reflected both heritage and innovation. Still based in its historic hometown, Schwarz Etienne remains one of the few independent Swiss manufactures capable of producing its own movements, dials, and cases, and is valued for its craftsmanship and mechanical independence.
