The Legacy of Universal Genève: A History of Precision, Style and Innovation

Universal Genève watches began in 1894 in Le Locle, Switzerland, when Numa-Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret founded the company, later relocating to Geneva in 1919 and gaining recognition for pioneering wrist chronographs in the 1930s like the Compax and Uni-Compax, followed by the Tri-Compax in 1944, which combined multiple complications in one watch.

By the mid-20th century, the brand was known for innovative designs like the Polerouter and Aero-Compax, but declined during the quartz crisis of the 1970s; today, its vintage watches remain highly sought after for their craftsmanship and influence on modern watchmaking.
