Dugena watches trace their origins to 1917 in Germany, when the Deutsche Uhrmacher-Genossenschaft Alpina (DUGENA) was formed as a cooperative of watchmakers, combining German design with Swiss movements to compete in a growing market; based in Berlin, it allowed independent retailers to offer reliable, affordable timepieces known for accuracy and everyday practicality.

By the mid-20th century, Dugena became one of Germany’s most recognized watch brands, producing dress watches, chronographs, and divers, but like many, it faced challenges during the quartz crisis; despite this, Dugena adapted and remains valued today for its honest engineering and role in blending German tradition with Swiss precision.
