Tavannes Watch Co., founded in 1891 in Tavannes, Switzerland by Henri Frédéric Sandoz, rose during a golden era of Swiss watchmaking with a vision to produce reliable, precise timepieces at scale while preserving craftsmanship, quickly becoming one of the world’s largest manufacturers by the early 20th century, producing millions of pocket watches, wristwatches, chronographs, and military timepieces.

Closely tied to the Cyma brand, Tavannes built a reputation for innovation and durability, supplying watches for aviation, naval, and military use—including early waterproof and trench watches in World War I—but like many historic makers, it declined during the quartz crisis, and today its watches are valued by collectors for their ingenuity and historical significance.
